• The Hickory sticks have first been harvested from forests in the eastern United States. Then the Amish craftsmen carefully hand-select the material to be used before skillfully creating each piece.

• Log furniture is subject a natural process known as checking. This process occurs as the wood “seasons,” which is a term used for the wood drying. This process happens as the wood releases moisture across or through the annual growth rings. Checking does not affect either the structural performance or the integrity of the wood. Also, varying amounts of checking may occur on any given piece of log furniture and cannot be controlled by the builder. Checking is not an indication of damaged furniture, but does add beauty and character to the product.
